This Friday at 7:00 pm the Ossie Davis Theater becomes a world stage for classical music hosting a Classical Flute and Guitar Recital to benefit the Friends of the NRPL featuring Maxim Rubtsov, Principal Flutist of the Russian National Orchestra, performing a dynamic blend of Argentinian tango classics and virtuosic Russian works with Argentinian guitarist, Federico Díaz.
Maxim Rubtsov is also a founding member of the Russian National Orchestra Wind Quintet. He has shared the stages of Europe in chamber performances with pianists Mikhail Pletnev and Francesco Schlimé. In 2012 he performed with American soprano Lisa Delan at the Napa Valley Festival del Sole and toured Russia with the Brubeck Brothers Quartet, playing jazz and classical compositions in tribute to the legendary Dave Brubeck.
Born in Mendoza, Argentina, Federico Díaz is a versatile musician of the new generation of guitarists in the Classical and Argentinian music and has collaborated with musicians such as Lionel Cottet, Daniel Binelli, Juan Falú, Bruno Cavallaro, Juan Pablo Navarro, among others. Mr. Diaz studied at prestigious institutions such as National University of Cuyo, University Mozarteum Salzburg, Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, and Manhattan School of Music.

I Got the Juice, a local business owned by Luis Rivera has just opened downtown at 579a Main Street. Luis saw that there wasn’t a place Downtown that had options for healthy food. He also noticed there are lots of vegans in Westchester County and not a lot of places where they can enjoy healthy drinks and foods. I Got the Juice offers Dairy Free Smoothies, Fresh Press Juices, Press Shots like wheat Grass and Vegan options. They also have a great and delicious healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner menu.
To celebrate their arrival downtown I Got the Juice will have a special pop up event pairing their juices with delicious vegan desserts from Baked Vegan, a specialty baker, on Saturday, June 8th from Noon to 3:00 PM. Stop by, get juiced, eat healthy and make this one of your regular downtown stops.
