Easily report quality-of-life issues to City Hall
Clean & Green — Working together to keep our streets fresh, welcoming, and vibrant.
Report It – Mobile NR — Easily report quality-of-life issues to City Hall.
The Four Pillars:

Pitch In New Ro: Pick up after your pets. It’s simple, sanitary, and shows respect for your neighbors.

Keep It Clean: Stop litter before it starts. Toss trash where it belongs and keep sidewalks and storefronts looking sharp.

Green It Up: Add beauty to your block. Join an Adopt-a-Planter program, care for a tree pit, or suggest new green spaces.

Report It – Mobile NR: See something that needs attention? Use the City’s Mobile NR app to report issues, request services, and track updates.

Pick up after your dog. Keep our streets clean. Protect our waterways.
Pet waste is more than a sidewalk nuisance—it’s a neighborhood issue and an environmental one. When it isn’t picked up, it makes our sidewalks unwalkable for neighbors and unwelcoming for visitors. And when rain washes it into storm drains, it flows directly into our waterways—including the Long Island Sound.
The Environmental Protection Agency classifies pet waste as a pollutant, contributing to bacteria that can impact water quality, wildlife, and public health.
In Downtown New Rochelle, keeping our neighborhood clean starts with simple, everyday actions—and it starts with you. Picking up after your dog keeps our streets walkable, our neighbors happy, our community healthy, and our waterways protected.
Small actions—done consistently—make a big difference.

Canines for Clean Streets & Clean Water
In partnership with the Long Island Sound Study, we invite every downtown dog owner to take the pledge.
Take the Pledge!
Pledge to do your part—every walk, every time:
- Help protect our waterways and the Long Island Sound watershed
- Keep our sidewalks clean for neighbors, kids, and visitors

Our streets are cleaned daily — let’s keep them that way.
The Clean Streets Team is on the job from 6 AM to 4 PM, six days a week (except Sunday) — sweeping, removing litter, refreshing planters, and keeping downtown walkable and welcoming. But keeping it clean is a shared effort. Keep It Clean reminds everyone: use the bins, don’t drop trash, and take pride in the places we all pass through.
What’s in the works:
- Friendly signage encouraging proper trash disposal
- “This Spot Was Cleaned Today” decals or chalk tags
- “Keep It Clean” trash can wraps and stickers
- Social shoutouts to businesses and neighbors who help keep downtown clean

Tree Pits, Plantings & Beautification Projects
Bringing color, nature, and curb appeal to downtown through small-scale greening, seasonal enhancements, and street-level improvements — with help from local volunteers and neighbors.
What’s in the works:
- Volunteer opportunities led by the BID
- Community cleanup events
- Flower planting in tree pits and sidewalk beds
- Fresh coats of paint on downtown green lampposts
- “Adopt-a-Tree Pit” opportunities for local businesses and residents

Little Fixes. Big Difference.
Graffiti. Cracked sidewalks. Broken streetlamps. These aren’t just minor annoyances — they affect the places we all share.
“Report It” is the BID’s way of supporting the City’s Quality of Life Initiative, encouraging residents, business owners, and visitors to speak up about non-emergency issues that impact the look, feel, and function of downtown.
What’s in the works:
- Promotion of the Mobile NR app through Clean & Green
- Social shoutouts to neighbors and businesses who help spot and report issues
