New Rochelle’s Waterfront Parks
New Rochelle is one of the few communities on Long Island Sound with four major public waterfront parks, offering residents and visitors exceptional access to approximately 9.3 miles of shoreline.
Three parks are owned and operated by the City of New Rochelle:
Hudson Park – Beaches, a bandshell, playground, fishing areas, and scenic waterfront views.
Five Islands Park – Connected islands featuring walking trails, picnic areas, fishing, playgrounds, and panoramic views of Long Island Sound.
Davenport Park – A peaceful waterfront park known for its open lawns, Shakespeare Garden, and beautiful shoreline vistas.
The fourth, Glen Island Park, is operated by Westchester County. Spanning more than 100 acres, it features beaches, walking and biking paths, boating access, picnic areas, and historic architecture. Originally developed in the 1870s by transportation entrepreneur John H. Starin, Glen Island became one of America’s first great destination amusement parks, helping establish New Rochelle as a nationally recognized seaside resort.
Together, these four parks define New Rochelle’s identity as Westchester County’s waterfront city, providing outstanding opportunities for recreation, relaxation, and experiencing the beauty and history of Long Island Sound.
