America 250 Wish Project

Wish cards will become part of a growing collective installation in the library’s Lumen Winter Gallery, creating a display that reflects what New Rochelle hopes for, dreams about, and believes in as the nation approaches its 250th birthday.

Wishes gathered in New Rochelle will join thousands more being collected at libraries, museums, and community spaces across the country as part of the nationwide Made By Us effort to capture Americans’ hopes and dreams ahead of July 4, 2026. The project also connects to Civic Season, a national initiative encouraging Americans to reflect on the country’s past and imagine its future between Juneteenth and the Fourth of July.

Wish Walls are being coordinated across the country for America 250 by Made By Us, a nationwide network of museums, libraries, historic sites, and cultural organizations working to engage the next generation in American history and civic participation.
